Trump’s USA Thank You Tour 2016 – Last Chance!

Just when you thought the USA’s incoming neo-Nazi administration couldn’t get any tackier, with Trump going on a “USA Thank You Tour” for his regular fix of adulation and irresponsibility, you discover that they are still trying to monetise the election. Witness this email, just in. Links have been ruthlessly excised, as I’m not giving any more publicity to these anti-science, misogynist, racist, homophobic, profiteering dangleberries than I can possibly help.
Dear Ivor,
Today is the final stop of the USA Thank You Tour 2016 in Mobile, AL.
Get your Thank You Tour merchandise for the holidays now! It’s your last chance. Sincerely, Team Trump-Pence

The Trump emails: Katrina Pierson and the despairing wails of the damned

I haven’t been posting all the emails I’ve (or rather, our fictitious Ivor Biggun) been getting from the Trump campaign, because there are far too many and they all say much the same thing: Crooked Hillary – send us money – we’re going to walk it – send us money, we need to run more ads or we’ll lose – the election is rigged – send us money. Some are signed by Cheetoface Stumpyfingers himself, others by a random son, or else by Katrina Pierson his National Spokesmoron, as is the case here. Pierson is an outstanding Specimen who thinks Sarah Palin is “more normal” than many Republicans.

Occasionally the emails are signed by one of Trump’s arselikkahs, like Gingrich or Priebus. Sometimes it dangles the tempting bait of a gadget, like the Trump Black Card (I kid you not) or Your Name On Our Wall (yeah sure) and, best … Continue reading

Il Douche wants to Drain the Swamp

Time for the 5th and final Email To The Deplorables of 22nd October. Oh, don’t fret: there are plenty more. It’s just the last one received on that date. I think, though, it’s time we started addressing the accuracy of the claims the Trump camp makes, and what really happens to the money they get, especially as this is the central theme of the “Drain the Swamp” rallying-cry. Let’s start with cash from small donors, because that’s what the 5 emails so far have been whining for:
Trump used $300K of small donors' money to buy copies of his own book, to sell back to donors at an inflated price. — Steve Silberman (@stevesilberman) October 25, 2016
Let’s not forget that the people getting these emails only signed up to be bully-boy Poll Watchers. This hasn’t been mentioned once so far. That’s strange, when you remember how much the … Continue reading

Trump Spamfile 23 Oct 2016: The Wall

And on the 7th day, Trump did rest and only sent out 2 unsolicited begging letters. Still nothing about Poll Watching, and the incomparable Rachel Maddow tells us why. Of course, this doesn’t mean there won’t be Fashbots stomping around, trying to intimidate minorities, since a lot of Trump supporters are even more right-wing than the GOP. It just means the GOP doesn’t want anything to do with them. What the courts will make of anything that does happen should make interesting reading either way. So, on to the daily outpourings of the Trump Train. Here’s the first one. It’s probably best read while listening to Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall.
What Drives Me?
Narcissism and greed.
Ivor,
The reason I am running for President is the same reason that you love America as much as I do.
Do you even English?
It’s the passion we feel for wanting …

Eric Trump fails at stealing other people’s ideas

Continuing our series on the Trump spamfest, here’s the 4th email received by our impressively long-fingered “Ivor Biggun” on the evening of 22nd October 2016. I guess the Trump campaign team think email is just a long-form version of Twitter. This time the Cheeto-faced Conman wants us to meet his son Eric.

Eric Trump is the blond one with a suspiciously fake hairline and selachian smile. Like the rest of the family, he has all the charm of a bleach enema and the empathy of a brick. He also has the same cavalier approach to other people’s ideas, although this time it’s not a Michelle Obama speech they’re plagiarising. As far as I can tell, it’s every politician asking for money this year. Far-right buffoon Rand Paul was caught using an illicitly compiled mailing list to do it earlier.

I have no idea why this figure of $20.17 is significant and I don’t really care. … Continue reading

More Begging Letters from Donald Trump

Donald Trump, who knows no shame, sent 5 emails in the space of 4 hours yesterday. All trying to gouge money out of his supporters, including the mythical and improbably-named Ivor Biggun. The second one was short and to the point.
Ivor, to receive your free personal gift from Mr. Trump you must donate by 11:59 PM TONIGHT.
You read that correctly. Special once-in-a-lifetime offer! Donate and receive a cheap gewgaw from the Great Pretender! I suspect the merchandising arm are having trouble flogging their trumpery, so this is their way of getting it out on the streets in a desperate attempt for visibility. Well, something got out onto the streets the other day, but It’s probably not what the Trump team were hoping for.

There were 5 of these statues. One was later auctioned for charity and reached $22,000. That’s $22 grand more that Trump appears to have ever given to charity. … Continue reading

A Begging Letter from Donald Trump

Donald Trump, the Stumpy-Fingered Satsuma, has always relied on blarney and bluster to get his way. In the Age of Information, where lies are easily spread and just as easily debunked, he’s realising that charisma and taking your electorate for complete idiots is no longer enough to win an election. That’s a problem when you are, in essence, marketing yourself. Trump has few recognisable policies and those he does have are patently unworkable, e.g.:
Crooked Hillary promised 200k jobs in NY and FAILED. We'll create 25M jobs when I'm president, and I will DELIVER!
There are only 7.8 million unemployed in the US. There is also no evidence of illegal behaviour by Clinton. There is evidence of financial and other forms of illegal misconduct by Trump, as anyone who has been following the news cannot fail to be aware.

There is … Continue reading

Another Brexit debate on 6 petitions on 17 October

Just in: the UK Parliament’s Petitions Committee has announced yet another Brexit debate. This makes 3 in the last 2 months, by my reckoning, which gives you an idea of the furore caused by this incredibly unwise and politically suicidal fuckup which – although brought to fruition by the appalling Cameron – can be blamed on every government that has used the EU as a scapegoat for its own ineptitude, corruption and callousness.

Which is: all of them since, and including, Thatcher.
The Petitions Committee has scheduled a debate on six petitions relating to the UK’s exit from the European Union.

Far Right Watch Team: The Long, Long, List of Vote Leave #Brexit Lies ... Each One, Busted.

One of the hardest working MEPs in the EU (for 20 years) is Labour's Richard Corbett, representing Yorkshire and Humber.

His speciality is, and has been for many years, busting EU myths using properly sourced, neutral data. Actual facts, and all publicly available.

His piece on Vote Leave Lies we thought was particularly good...

Politically Incorrect

You can’t hang around for long on social media without coming across code words, bandied about by those who like to think of themselves as “politically incorrect”. You can look up the origin and evolution of the term “politically correct” if you like; suffice to say that the current usage by the hard right to stigmatise those who actually want to take into account the needs of women and minorities is relatively recent.

And frankly, if being accused of political correctness is a bad thing, I don’t want to be right. Or rather: alt-right.

So, the lexicon of the self-described “politically incorrect”. These are terms often brandished with pride by those who use them, but rarely are their precise meanings made clear. I will endeavour to repair this. One thing I can promise you is that in this post I will not use sarcasm, exaggeration for comic effect, or any other … Continue reading

Crying Woolfe

I doubt I’ll be the only person resorting to that painfully easy pun in the title, but Steven Woolfe can’t honestly claim it’s undeserved. So who the fuck is Steven Woolfe?

Steven Woolfe is (or possibly now was, if he’s resigned in a fit of pique) the spokesthing for the British far-right party UKIP. UKIP stands for “UK Independence Party” and their main platform consists of perpetuating the myth that, as part of the EU, the UK is not a sovereign state. UKIP has no MPs. It has, of course MEPs, and Woolfe is one of them. UKIP may hate the EU, like all the other xenophobic parties, but they love the gravy train that goes with it.

He’s also UKIP’s Token Ethnic (yes, that’s how he describes himself: ethnic. His grandfather was black) and talks a lot of bollocks about attitudes to skin colour in the 70s … Continue reading

House of Commons to debate 2nd EU Referendum

This news just in, as they say so ungrammatically on the telly:
The Petitions Committee has decided to schedule a House of Commons debate on this petition. The debate will take place on 5 September at 4.30pm in Westminster Hall, the second debating chamber of the House of Commons. The debate will be opened by Ian Blackford MP.

The Committee has decided that the huge number of people signing this petition means that it should be debated by MPs. The Petitions Committee would like to make clear that, in scheduling this debate, they are not supporting the call for a second referendum. The debate will allow MPs to put forward a range of views on behalf of their constituents. At the end of the debate, a Government Minister will respond to the points raised.

A debate in Westminster Hall does not have the power to change the law, and won’t …

Petition “EU Referendum Rules triggering a 2nd EU Referendum”- Government response

You’ve all heard about the UK’s EU referendum of 23rd June 2016. You’ve all heard of the result, and you’ve almost certainly heard of the collapsing £, the rise in violent xenophobia, plus the anger and despair of:
  • those who voted to stay;
  • those who voted to leave but realised they’d been lied to (or, if you prefer, had listened to what they wanted to hear, rather than the experts who told them the truth);
  • the under-18s who saw their futures being confiscated by the old;
  • the expats of all nations who were denied a voice in something that concerned them directly.
This led to mass signings of an official petition on the UK government website, demanding an 2nd EU referendum. We won’t discuss the advisability or otherwise of sinking yet more money into such an exercise right now.

This petition, originally founded by a Brexiter who thought … Continue reading

EU Referendum: Counting the Morons - MoronWatch

So, it’s one of the most important days in modern British history; what happens today in the UK could significantly change British, European, even world history. For what it’s worth, I voted Remain. I have not seen a single worthwhile argument from any section of the Leave camp...

Vote Remain… in protest at the EU referendum | Lee Turnpenny

I’ve long thought that putting such a choice to a referendum is not the way. That’s not to claim any foresighted sagacity on my part. It’s just that I’m a voter in a country that elects its politicians to sort this out for us. The fact that we are currently governed by a bunch we can’t trust to be fair rankles for sure. But a referendum is not the occasion to cast a protest vote. We pay our elected politicians to manage this. That is what they are there for. Because most of us are not sufficiently savvy on the issues; there is too much to consider; too many subject areas in which we are unqualified and inexperienced, our nous compromised. We are – to use the term in the non-pejorative sense – too ignorant to make a properly informed decision... [Read more... ]

Please Don’t Go | The Wandering Teacake

I know this is a hard sell, when voting for Remain means voting for things to stay the way they are. Because things aren’t great at the moment. But what I hope to show you here is that the problems we face – crumbling services, overstretched NHS, spiralling rents – are not the fault of the EU, and that voting Leave won’t solve them, may even make them worse. I’ll also look at what effect leaving the EU may have on immigration...

The Real Side: Joe Messina & the Dodgy Bedfellows

The Real Side is apparently a far-right (read bog-standard 21st century GOP) radio programme hosted by Joe Messina. No, not that Joe Messina, the Motown Funk Brother. This one “has had several successful businesses and has held several executive positions with Fortune 1000 companies.” according to this page. No details on what these big and/or companies were, oddly enough.

Funnily enough, it doesn’t exactly leap to the eye from his Facebook About page either …
